Taipei - Xinyi District/Taipei 101

Consider this the first post of 2016! Even though this was technically taken in 2015.

More specifically, this was shot on the first day of my family's trip to Taipei, Taiwan. Or the Republic of China, for those more inclined.

Taipei 101, the tallest building in Taipei and from 2004-10 the tallest building in the world, is situated in the Xinyi District to the east. A relatively modern development zone, it's home to many high-end shopping, business and residential areas in addition to the Taipei City Government. It's also one of the central hubs of the whole island, showcasing the best and most modern aspects of Taiwan.

The only downside was that, due to our family having our hotel far to the east in the distant outskirts, the city itself is accessible only by bus, taxi and the MRT (which still needed a bus to access from where we were). Still, it was a good first day, all things considered.
