2014 Alliances: RDNA-verse

Here's a map of the international blocs in the 'verse, as they were in 2014.

Prior to 1923, there were already plans for an international association with which to help promote peace and solve the world’s problems. These saw fruition through the founding of the Global League of Nations in 1915. By that point, however, it was too late to have significantly prevented the upheavals that characterized the Terror. The GLN remained active only on paper, before finally being dissolved in the late ‘30s.

In its place, some of the original founding members, namely the American Federation, British Empire, RDNA and Gran Patagonia, drew up proposals for a successor “meeting of the world,” representing the entirety of Free Nations. Thus the Assembly of the Free World was formally established in 1940. While its first headquarters were in New York, there are several assemblies in other cities.

Elsewhere, the Reactionary states initially refused to apply for membership, citing threats to their “principles” and absolute sovereignty. After several diplomatic talks, however, they were nonetheless accepted as “observer countries.” In place of the AFW, they established the League of Neutral Defiance in 1956. Yet very much like the GLN, it remained (and still) remains largely effective on paper.

Both, however, are in opposition to the Collectivist Internationale. Formed in 1929 by several Party members, it is comprised of every Red state on the planet. Though witness to periodic (and at times severe) power struggles amongst themselves, its intention from the very beginning was to consolidate and channel the entire “Red sphere” as the voice of their Revolution. In some other world, they are a cross between the USSR, Comintern, and the Three-state-arrangement from George Orwell's 1984.

It is under this state of affairs that the world remains in an uneasy Cold War. Yet some believe that the time of the Reds may soon be coming to a close...
